FAQs

What type of riding experience do I need?

Our highly experienced horses are more than capable of taking on any terrain, so beginners are always welcome. All you need is a positive attitude and a bit of mountain toughness.

How long are the rides?

The guided trail ride length depend on you! Just let us know how long you would like to go for, we can facilitate a trip anywhere from one to six hours.

The overnight trips to Cowlick Creek take approximately 3 hours of riding to get to camp.

Our multi day trips typically have us spending at least 4 to 6 hours in the saddle with a lunch break built in to stretch our legs.

Where is the staging area located?

The location of Indian Trail Adventures is searchable on Google Maps. We are located in Victor Lake Cooperative, just south east of Grande Cache, Alberta.

We ask that you recognize Victor Lake Coop is a private residential Indigenous area that we are welcoming guests into. Please be respectful, drive cautiously, and only enter the areas we have designated.

What do I need to wear on trail rides. And what do it pack on an overnight trip?

For trail rides please wear comfortable riding clothes such as durable pants or jeans and a wicking shirt or t-shirt. You can wear comfortable sturdy shoes or cowboy boots for footwear. And we recommend you wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Please bring a filled water bottle and rain gear to tie onto your saddle if you have it.

When you inquire about an overnight or multi day trip we will send you a full gear and packing list.

What kind of backcountry experience do I need for an overnight trip?

We take care of preparing all meals for you during the trip. At camps without wall tents and cots, you will need to set up your own tent and sleep on an inflatable mattress (thermarest type). Keep in mind that there is little to no cell service on our trips, so you will need to be comfortable "unplugging". Note that our guides have Garmin InReaches as emergency messaging devices.
